Abattoir SA is a hive of intense economic activity: the abattoir and meat wholesalers are present during the week, and the large markets set up on the site during the weekend, from Friday to Sunday.  Food is the central theme of all the activities of Abattoir SA.

A new food hall (8,162m2) has been built on the site, to satisfy the needs of mobile vendors, while offering numerous advantages for other target groups such as traders, customers, visitors and residents.  An urban farm on the roof is currently under construction.  It will include greenhouses, a roof garden, an aquaponics installation and a restaurant.  It is scheduled to open at the end of 2017!

The ERDF's intervention in the infrastructure works for this new Foodmet food hall amounts to €7.5 million, 50% of which has been covered by the European authorities and 50% by the Region.
