Usquare is located within the walls of a former gendarmerie barracks in Ixelles. After a phase of work, this new multifunctional urban space will host projects supported by the two universities and by the Brussels Capital Region and Europe. To give concrete expression to the will of the Government of the Brussels-Capital Region to strengthen the university and international development of Brussels while meeting the needs of the inhabitants of Brussels, perspective.brussels is responsible for drawing up the Master Development Plan required to transform the former Ixelles barracks into a new urban and university district of Brussels that is open, international, innovative, mixed, sustainable and convivial.
The Société d'Aménagement Urbain is coordinating the operational implementation of this conversion of the site. This involves, in particular, the creation by ULB and VUB, with the support of the European Regional Development Fund, of an innovative inter-university centre for sustainable development.
The Société d'Aménagement Urbain (SAU) has appointed SEE U to coordinate the transitional management phase of the site.
